ANNA NEWELL & DAN LEITH IN ASSOCIATION WITH TOUCHED THEATRE
Anna Newell has been making theatre adventures for people of all ages to watch and to take part in since 1989. Based in Wicklow, young audiences in Roscommon will have seen her work from companies performing here such as Indepen-Dance, Replay Theatre Company and this season with Touched Theatre (Twinkle Twinkle). Anna was shortlisted for the Ellen Stewart Award 2016 for theatre makers whose work with/for young people has had a major social impact.
This season Anna, together with performer/musician Dan Leith and puppet theatre company Touched Theatre join us to begin work on “MY SMILE HAS FALLEN DOWN” a new show for 4-7 year olds exploring mental health in a whimsical but profound way. With support from the Arts Council, the artists will use this time to focus on finding a theatrical language to explore issues around mental health for young audience without it becoming didactic or attempting to deliver a ‘message’.
