Anna Spearman makes sculptural objects and installations. Her studio is a testing ground where her day to day encounters with the material world are filtered through a kind of three dimensional meandering. Using a variety of expedient materials and processes and working instinctively and spontaneously she attempts to transpose the joy and excitement of these visual encounters into sculptural approximations.
Anna graduated from Falmouth University with an MA in Fine Art: Contemporary Practice in 2011, a BA in Fine Art from Sligo IT in 2007 and a BA in History of Art and Sociology from TCD in 1992. She is currently working from her studio in the Model in Sligo and as a Creative Associate with the Art’s Council’s Creative Schools programme.
Anna has had solo exhibitions in the Customs House Gallery in 2012 and the Hyde Bridge Gallery in 2020. Awards include the Model Cara award in 2017, North West Open prizewinner in 2016, the Sandra Blow award (Falmouth University) 2011 and the Governing Body Medal (Sligo IT) 2007.
