Elizabeth Reapy is an author from Mayo. Her debut novel Red Dirt was awarded Newcomer of the Year at the 2016 Irish Book Awards and 2017 Rooney Prize. She also won the Hennessy New Irish Writing short story award in May 2016 and was featured in The Long Gaze Back: An Anthology of Irish Women Writers (New Island Books, edited by Sinead Gleeson).
She holds an MA in Creative Writing from Queen’s University and has been published nationally and internationally; performing work in the UK, USA, Australia, Argentina and New Zealand. In 2018, she was one of the UNESCO Dublin City of Literature Writers-in-Residence. In 2019, her second novel Skin was published to great critical acclaim: ‘Engrossing … Unvarnished, wry and almost wincingly clear-eyed, the narrative covers acres of emotional terrain – from comedy, to tragedy, and the churned-up borderlands in between’-Irish Independent.
Elizabeth will lead a creative workshop on discovering enjoyable ways to get started in fiction, developing characters, dialogue and scenes whilst exploring samples of short fiction that may stimulate interest.
