Artist Eimear Walshe will present a new commissioned publication and radio play in commemoration of Margaret Cousins, a feminist and theosophist from Boyle, County Roscommon, who played a significant role in Irish and Indian women’s suffrage. Working with local and international collaborators, the project will draw attention to the legacy of the writing, education, campaigning, and musical work of Margaret Cousins. It will be formed through a cross-generational conversation about feminism, national identity and marriage in county Roscommon. Please Join us on Sunday the 25th August at King House Boyle at 3pm to launch this commemoration project.
This marks the first in a series of visual art commissions for County Roscommon celebrating our extraordinary citizens through exceptional and unexpected visual art projects.
