A playwriting programme for children aged 9-12 as part of an Artist in Residence Programme at Backstage Theatre
Let your imagination run wild this summer………….
Do you ever make up wild and wonderful stories in your head or write about them in your school copy? Would you like to see one of your stories made into a play starring professional actors? We’re looking for young people with lively imaginations to join us for “Playmaking”, our playwriting adventure with Backstage Theatre Artists in Residence Maisie Lee and Fionnoula Gygax.
Working alongside Maisie and Fionnoula this summer, we will help make your story into a play. You will spend two weeks at the arts centre this summer participating in exciting theatre making workshops, before returning to us in September to finalise your script. Professional actors will then begin rehearsing the plays, which will be performed at both Roscommon Arts Centre and Backstage Theatre/Aisling Festival in October.
To apply to for this programme write a short story (300-500 words) and a paragraph telling us why you would like to be one of our playwrights. You can drop you application into the arts centre or email it to us at: email@example.com
Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 24th May
