Roscommon singer and multi-instrumentalist, Cathy Jordan will play host to guests Sean Regan (fiddle) and Kim Fleming (harp) for an evening of tunes and chat in the first of our “REEL THING” music series.
Cathy Jordan is lead singer and percussion player with award winning Irish traditional power-house “Dervish” for over 25 years. During her time with the band, Cathy has made 17 albums, toured worldwide to over 40 countries and duetted with the likes of Steve Earl, Imelda May, Vince Gill and David Gray. She is also a singer-songwriter, TV and radio presenter, teacher and a member of Americana trio “The Unwanted” with Seamie O’Dowd and Rick Epping.
Sean Regan was born in Manchester to Irish parents and grew up amidst a vibrant Irish traditional music scene. At nineteen Sean joined “Toss the Feathers” teaming up with Michael McGoldrick, before moving to Castlerea in County Roscommon, his father’s hometown in 2003. Instantly identifiable for his versatile sweet fiddle playing combined with a unique sensitivity, he has recorded and toured with some amazing musicians including; Finbar Furey, Damien Dempsey, Sharon Shannon, Sinead O’Connor, Sean & Dolores Keane, Toss the Feathers, Slide, Grada, Lumiere, Tim O’Brien, Michael McGoldrick, Glen Hansard and Andrea Corr.
Kim Fleming is one of Ireland’s most respected harpists and enjoys a successful career as a musician, teacher and arranger of traditional Irish repertoire. Having travelled throughout Europe, Africa, USA and Russia, Kim is now settled in Longford where she teaches music.
