In the final summer session of The Reel Thing, Roscommon Families we welcome the Carlos and Wynne families. The Carlos and Wynne families are two of the most respected and renowned musical families in the Traditional music scene. Their musical collaboration is sure to produce a magical and exciting performance that will draw audiences in wherever they perform. Dylan Carlos grew up in a flute playing family and local area.  He took the road less travelled however and became a fiddle player.  Dylan captured the coveted Senior All Ireland fiddle title in 2019 and in the same year, he released a critically acclaimed debut album as one third of the group Carlos Sweeney McCartin. John Carlos is a highly regarded and iconic flute player, playing in the North Connacht style with his own unique drive and rhythm.  John has won underage All Ireland flute titles.  He has toured Britian, Europe and the US with CCÉ.  He has recently released his long awaited debut album.  John is also a very talented banjo player.

Shane Carlos is the third generation of flute players in the Carlos family.  Starting off under the tutelage of Paddy Ryan on the whistle, Shane later graduated to the flute with ease.  He is a regular performer in the Dublin session scene.  Shane recorded on The Flute Players Of Roscommon Volumes 1 and 2, and has recently recorded with brother Dylan and dad John on John’s new album.

Brother and sister, John and Liz Wynne have been playing together for many years.  Both siblings were taught by legendary music teacher Paddy Ryan, and both would cite Patsy Hanly to be a major influence on their playing.  John and Liz have recorded together on John’s debut album and both have recorded for The Flute Players Of Roscommon project.
