1519 The city of Metz in France. The notorious Cornelius Agrippa achieves the impossible in court: defending a woman accused of witchcraft against the Inquisition and securing her acquittal. The only recorded instance of its kind in history. Soldier, scholar, doctor and rumoured sorcerer, his name would echo around Europe. But the hatred of the Roman Church would also follow…

Now, over 500 years later, he has returned. To defend the condemned again.

The play, already touring Ireland since late 2024, unfolds across two gripping acts. The first reimagines Agrippa’s legendary trial, with arguments drawn directly from historical records. The second explores the devastating consequences of his defence, both for Agrippa and those around him. Told from the present day, the story blurs past and present, with the audience themselves drawn into the mystery of why Agrippa has returned.

“Still stunned by…the energy of the performance”.“Amazing presence…innate understanding of tempo…I want to say I think it is an extraordinary piece…” “Wonderful show! Fantastic performance! Super writing!…”
