First Editions

This annual award for companies/artists to create a new piece of work/work in progress was introduced in 2015 to coincide with a new children’s literary festival “Bookworms”, run in association with Roscommon Arts Office and Library Services.
Recipients are paid both a commission and performance fee and offered support in kind in terms of rehearsal space, technical and marketing assistance.

Roscommon Visual Art Award

Roscommon Arts Centre has developed a number of awards that aim to support visual artists at all stages of their careers and to assist them reach new audiences through partnerships with other organisations and galleries. The Roscommon Visual Artists Forum Award was established in 2014 and supports the production of new work by a Roscommon based artist. In 2018 the awarded artist, Siobhan O’Connor exhibited her work at Oonagh Young Gallery, Dublin.

With the support of The Arts Council of Ireland and under the Curatorship of Naomi Draper, Roscommon Arts Centre commissioned four artists as part of the 2021 Visual Art Programme:

Words Ireland Literary Mentorship Award

Roscommon Arts Centre has supported the Words Ireland National Mentoring Programme, which ensures that at least one writer or poet from County Roscommon will benefit from a literature mentoring relationship.
