Roscommon Arts Centre continues to support artists through our Artist in Residence 2024 scheme and this year we welcome artists Shane Hynan and Tatiana Santos to focus on the development of their practice and specific projects here in our Studio Spaces.
Shane Hynan’s practice centres on photography with experimental elements in sound, video, collage, and sculpture. He’s exhibited extensively in Ireland and internationally in China, Germany and the UK, and was recently awarded a residency at CCI Paris. He’s also received multiple awards from the Arts Council, Creative Ireland and Kildare Arts.
His long term ‘Beneath | Beofhód’ (2018-2024) project, draws upon conceptual, performative and subjective documentary approaches to reflect on the endangered bog habitats of his immediate post-industrial landscape in the Irish midlands. A premiere of the full body of work will be shown at Photo Museum Ireland in 2025.
While on residency at Roscommon Arts Centre he plans to prepare his ‘Beneath | Beofhód’ project for exhibition and publication. He also intends to explore and respond to peatland communities and sites in Roscommon and neighbouring counties to make new work for inclusion in his project.
