Roscommon born artist Orla Clogher will design a Samhain themed sculpture piece inspired by the Mórrigán in her form as the hooded crow which will be in situ at the mound by Rathcroghan Visitor centre over Samhain. The sculpture will be launched in Roscommon town as part of the event Samhain at Cruachan Aí – Roscommon’s home for Halloween, in collaboration with Rathcroghan Visitor Centre. The Mórrigán Samhain procession will take place in the town centre and will feature work created by pupils of Tulsk N.S and Ballinagare N.S which will be the culmination of workshops facilitated by Orla with the pupils. This procession in the town centre at 6pm will be followed by a talk at Roscommon Arts Centre at 8pm

Orla Clogher is an artist, designer, and theatre maker. Her career spans theatre, spectacle, film, community arts and education. She’s designed costumes, masks, puppets, sets, site specific and immersive installations. Some recent collaborations include ‘Birdboy’ for United Fall, Grand Soft Day, an international Co-production of Branar and NIE, and various productions with Brú Theatre. Orla was part of the core artistic team of Macnas for many years. She devised, designed, and creatively directed parades for the company in 2016 and 2017 and was Co-parade designer in 2018. Orla collaborated as production co-designer with Julian Crouch on Gilgamesh, a Macnas production with Artichoke UK for Galway European Capital of Culture 2020. She designed and creatively directed her own puppetry centred show ‘Fen’ which was presented at Roscommon Arts Centre in May, and has recently been awarded an arts council spectacle bursary.
