Roscommon musician and composer Alan Kelly will be the first Trad Artist in Residence at Roscommon Arts Centre. Alan will use this residency opportunity to research and produce a collection of slow airs arranged specifically for piano accordion culminating in a performance at Roscommon Arts Centre in 2024. Drawing from the ancient sean-nós singing tradition, this collection will present a fresh instrumental perspective on traditionally unaccompanied song. Alan will explore archival material from singers such as: Seosamh Ó hÉanaí, Nan Tom Taimín, Iarla Ó Lionáird and Diarmuid Ó Súilleabháin.
