Artist Café Saturday 2nd November 11am – 1pm

Topic: Project Management for Visual Artists

For Roscommon-based artists. Participants are expected to refer to current projects that they are working on and be actively engaged in the discussions.

1:1 Mentoring with Eamonn Maxwell:

Visual artists based in Roscommon are invited to apply for a 1.5 hour individual mentoring session with Eamonn to give an overview of their practice and to explore ideas around professional development. It is anticipated that four artists will be awarded this mentoring opportunity, one session per artist. Sessions will take place between Tuesday 29th October and Friday 1st November at Roscommon Arts Centre in advance of the opening of Hivernal Group Show.

One of the four artists will then be selected by Eamonn to engage in a further three sessions.

Over a period of approx six months one artist will work with Eamonn through an agreed mentoring plan, with targets and objectives in relation to professional development or progressing a particular project/body of work. Two sessions will be delivered by zoom with one session in person, normally a studio visit. Dates to be agreed.

Eamonn Maxwell is the curator for Hivernal – the Open Call Group Exhibition, opening at Roscommon Arts Centre on Friday 1st November 2024. In his independent curatorial practice, Eamonn has curated significant exhibitions by leading international and Irish artists including the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Previous roles have included Collection Advisor for The Arts Council of Ireland, Director of Lismore Castle Arts and inaugural University Curator at University of the Arts London.

To submit your Expression of Interest for the Mentoring Programme, please email artsofficer@roscommoncoco.ie before 5pm on Monday 23rd September. As there are just four places available, Eamonn will assess applications and select participants, based on the information provided. In your email please provide:

  • Contact details including your Roscommon postal address.
  • A short statement of your practice, outlining the work you wish to discuss.
  • What you would hope to achieve from one mentoring session and what you would hope to achieve from three additional mentoring sessions, if selected.
  • Attach up to three images or links to files/exhibitions/publications.
